Transmission Project

Our Mission is to improve the quality of life for the residents of Lee, St. Francis, and Phillips counties, by offering community economic development opportunities and activities in affordable housing, youth leadership development and intervention services, alternative adult education methods, job skills training, and community access to technology and training, which will lead residents to sustainable self-sufficiency.

Lee County CDC programs include education projects designed to increase the skills of youth and adults in the community. Within the offices of the CDC is the Lee County Community Technology Center. The center promotes local technology awareness and education by providing low-income area youth and adults with the opportunity to enhance their computer skills. The Center offers technology training and provides hardware and software to various sites throughout the Lee County area. Currently 560 individuals (children and adults) have taken advantage of the Technology center and the programs offered. Lee County CDC also provides space for the Lee County GED/ABE Adult Education Program in cooperation with Crowley’s Ridge Vo-Tech Center in Forrest City. The average enrollment for this class both day and night is 15 students.

Lee County CDC served as the pilot site for the Biz Tech Program. The Biz Tech program is an on-line entrepreneurial development program which focuses on teaching youth the skills needed to start their own businesses. Fifteen youth participated in this pilot project; with eight of those young people working together to start a small business called “A Little Something Special”. The group made, marketed and sole individualized gift baskets for Valentine’s Day. The business project was successful and ended showing a profit.

La Casa Hogar is a center for women and children. The center houses a variety of programs essential to the successful transition of new immigrants to life in the Yakima Valley.

Our programs and service empower Hispanic women and children through education. And extending the caring hand of the community in serving anyone in need of emergency service.

Promote Health & Wealth: The Prosperity Campaign

We link residents in need of economic stability with the financial services and healthcare programs that can help. Our network of Prosperity Centers offers services including free tax preparation, economic benefits counseling, homeownership counseling, financial coaching and more.

We also help operate a farmers market in Overtown that accepts food stamps and doubles the value of purchases made with food stamps.

HSC does social networking with a twist – we call it “civic networking.” We connect South Florida residents across sector, background and area of interest, helping them find new opportunities for collaboration. Imagine Miami Changemaker Conferences, held twice a year, are powerful gatherings of nearly 200 people who learn skills for change, deepen their understanding of issues, discover examples of innovative “change-making” at the local level, and make new and inspiring connections. Advocate for Better Communities

HSC is involved in building the Penny Wise movement, a campaign against cuts to social services in Miami-Dade County.

Build Strong Organizations: Catalyst Miami

HSC’s new capacity building center will assist social enterprises to launch, grow, collaborate and increase community impact. HSC supports groups by sharing administrative services; fiscal sponsorship; advocacy training; communications strategies; business practices; leadership development; and networks.

Through a combination of individual, community and public resources, we seek to help those seniors, families and youth most in need in our community. Our primary objective is to provide need-based services and programs. Secondly, HELP seeks to partner with other groups and agencies to facilitate the necessary programming and community infrastructure to address emerging needing in an integrated, proactive manner.

HELP’s programs have made us an indispensible part of the community over the 42 years we have been in Ojai. From providing direct services to seniors, families and youth, to serving as a senior gathering place, to partnering with other agencies in the Valley, HELP is consistently working to enhance the well-being of the residents of the Ojai Valley.

The mission of Excellence By Choice, Inc. is to serve children, youth and adults by providing quality programs and experiences that emphasize educational, social, vocational, cultural and economic development.

Excellence By Choice, Inc., (EBC Inc.), is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) economic development organization in existence since 1992. Based in Washington, DC, Excellence By Choice, Inc. has a regional office in Durham, NC, with affiliate programs in other cities. EBC Inc. serves as a consultant in community development, technology, housing, job training, capacity building, and capital financing.

Through its auxiliary projects, EBC Inc. fosters the development of leadership by creating educational and career opportunities for at-risk, low income or disadvantaged citizens of urban communities and rural areas. Clients include municipalities, businesses, numerous community-based organizations and agencies, and Native Americans.
