Washington Nonprofit Conference
The art of fundraising is changing rapidly – new methods of communicating and engaging with donors are rapidly increasing. Email, social media, blogging, digital media, mobile and more are quickly becoming credible means of marketing to donors and prospects. But with various groups of constituents engaging through multiple channels, how does one integrate them all so that a consistent message across all channels is delivered?
State Of The Net
The State of the Net Conference is the largest information technology policy conference in the US, attracting over 550 attendees in 2009. The conference framed the policy debates facing the new Administration and the new Congress. The State of the Net Conference is the only tech policy conference routinely recognized for its balanced blend of academics, consumer groups, industry and government (over 50% of 2009 attendees were government policy staff).
World’s Fair Use Day
World’s Fair Use Day (WFUD) is a free, all-day celebration of the doctrine of fair use: the legal right that allows innovators and creators to make particular uses of copyrighted materials. WFUD will take place at the Newseum in Washington D.C. on Tuesday January 12, 2010, and will be organized by Public Knowledge (PK), a Washington D.C.-based non-profit, consumer-advocacy group. PK works to ensure that communications and intellectual property policies encourage creativity, further free expression and discourse and provide universal access to knowledge. As part of its campaign to return balance to copyright law, PK hopes to use WFUD to educate the public about the importance of fair use in an information society.
WFUD will be widely attended and will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to network with policymakers, artists, academics, business innovators, media professionals, press, and consumer advocates.
Re-Imagining News & Community in the Pacific Northwest
The DIGITAL AGE and a depressed economy have changed the landscape in which journalism operates. Engage others who are actively involved in addressing the vital question of how the press and community members can help each other define and embrace our evolving Pacific NW news ecology. Our Seattle program “catalysts” - Norman Rice, Tracy Record, and Chris Jordan - will be part of the conversation joining other Pacific NW journalists, civic voices, broadcasters, educators, ethnic media, students, emergent voices, digital entrepreneurs and business people.
Organizing 2.0
Is online organizing really ‘organizing’? That’s a challenging question for those of us from a labor or community organizing background. That said, online organizing has received a lot of positive attention recently in connection with the presidential elections. What does this mean for our organizations? What skills do we need to share to make the most of no-longer-new online tools for our campaigns in New York?
Registration is now open. Tickets are $15.
Registration on the day of the event will be $20.
Organizing 2.0 is a grassroots led conference of social justice organizers primarily from labor and the community organizing world. Participants range from those new to online organizing as well as experienced professionals.
